My Top 10 Role Models (2013 Edition)
You can tell a lot about a person by who they idolize and why. Here is my Top 10 list. You might be able to guess a few of them. I'm definitely not shy about referring to them as often as possible.

1. Jesus Christ
Duh factor, I know. Seems a cop-out, but have you read what this guy had to say? Flippin' righteous. Ok, terrible pun.
2. C.S. Lewis
Logic, logic, logic. Dear old Jack was the person who first explained to me that faith could also be rational. Not to mention his timeless allegorical fantasies made elements of Christ not merely palatable, but delicious to the soul.
4. Nikola Tesla
The man was a brilliant polymath, eccentric inventor, and so devoted to science he remained celibate his entire life (despite popularity with the ladies). Did I mention he had a fantastic man-stache?
5. Jeanne D'Arc, "Joan of Arc"
Youth, maiden, and peasant who led armies. We will never know if she was a divine messenger or simply crazy, but Jeanne exemplifies a juxtaposition of warrior and martyr.
6. J.R.R. Tolkien
Linguistics professor, mythology buff, and devoted father, good ol' Tolks spent 10 years on the same sweeping epic. Never knowing how it would take the world by storm and change the face of high fantasy forever. Talk about devotion.

7. Oscar Wilde
Witty, insightful, cutting, hilarious, fabulous. I adore Oscar's plays, but also his spirit of adoration towards beauty and humanity. Sent to hard labor camps for his own profession of love. Not to mention he dressed brilliantly.
8. Albert Einstein
This guy was a champion in both logic and imagination. Plus, as a philosopher, his thoughts are both insight and delight.
9. Leonardo Da Vinci
Painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, anatomist, cartographer, botanist. This man did everything with excellence.
10. Yoda
I could write a book on the wisdom of Yoda. Maybe someone already has. Warrior, Jedi master, spiritual guide, leader... Google "Yoda quotes." Just do it.
***IMPORTANT***
There are other writers, philosophers, scientists that I adore unlisted here. (A few runners-up: Martin Luther King, Jr., Spock, John C. Maxwell, Jane Austen, and many more...)

Orator and parliamentary reformer, Wilberforce sacrificed much of his life to abolish the slave trade in England, but not only that, he also championed movements for children, women, animals, the disabled, and the poor.

***ALSO***
I'm well aware that Leonardo was a spendthrift who had a temper, Einstein's theories needed ironing, Oscar Wilde was a homosexual, Tesla loved pigeons, and Yoda isn't real....
NOBODY IS PERFECT.
Ahem. So...
