Practice Means Progress

I sat down yesterday to finally put together all those little scenes and chapters and whatnots of my novel, hoping that they would create some form of a cohesive whole and give me an idea of how much I have left to do.

My cousin and writing/running mate has requested statistical update. Here it is...

With a little less than half a year left, my novel-in-progress clocks in at:

* 30 chapters
* 156 pages (Yes, I was shocked...)
* Roughly 39,000 words

This is significantly short of the 50,000 words I was aiming for, but then I still haven't reached the end of the manuscript. Damn, novel writing takes more stamina than mud wrestling a boar...

Haha, thank you for the update. How do you have 30 chapters in 156 pages?? I have 150 pages and only 22 chapters! Wait a minute...are you double spacing?? Or no?

Hmmm...I dunno. Yeah, that's mostly double-spaced I think. But I have a few pages not entirely transcribed, so maybe that's it.

I was really surprised that I wasn't farther along actually. Oh well. Half a year left, I suppose.

It's actually quite funny...because we're at exactly the same spot basically in our books. I have 153 pages, and 38,000 somethingish words.
