Lights

Just sitting here waiting for the lights to come back on. The sun is out but the D hasn't soaked in. Praying and praying for awakening. Alive-ness is so near. But when you're confined to the couch, energy sapped by painkillers, lurking in poetry forums and eating nothing but soft food - well, it's hard not to feel a little life-less.
There they are, sparkling yellow lamplight, rippling on the streets of Madrid. Slippish blue starlight, kissing my eyes as I sleep. Dawnlight at last, massaging my soul to breathe, my heart to beat.
His mercies are new every day. I'm holding onto that.
