Goodbye to Pain

Where have I gone away to?
Now that the past has slipped away
This lost and lonely soul was tired
Wearied of the games it used to play
Feelings, like a weight now shed
Somehow stepped from fires of emotion
Unscathed, if but for little time, I
Dip my feet in thoughtless edge of ocean
Memory has wrapped itself in ribbon
Drifting, in a glass, so far from shore
I kiss the winds that cradle it within
But, at once, mourn that it is no more
In a gliding motion, the lights arise
Their glow a dappling golden hail
That tries to waken up the happiness
And cast over brokenness a painted veil
But if I forget the joys that brought such pain
I fear I shall forget my spirit's name
